"Life is an adventure, dare it" - Mother Teresa |
About MeI was raised in Arcadia and had the privilege to attend Arcadia schools (CG, DMS, and AHS). As a first generation Cuban American, my parents shared with me the gift of being bilingual in both Spanish and English.
My early years of school were spent attending ELD and RSP classes. School did not come easy to me but acquiring a "Power of Yet" (Carol Dweck, 2014) outlook helped me overcome my academic struggles, attain a Doctorate in Education and continue to reach towards my aspirations. |
Professional BackgroundMy early years as a student inspired me to become a teacher. The beginning of my career was spent in a Spanish, Dual Immersion program outside of AUSD. I returned shortly after to Arcadia and was thrilled to return to the community as a first grade teacher. A few years later I was moved to Holly Avenue and I soon learned how significant this opportunity would become. My love for fifth grade curriculum, especially Science, technology, and the Latino Family Literacy Project would be established.

My FamilyThe latest adventure in my life is having a growing family. Our son was born January 1, 2016 and I am currently expecting our second child.
Fun Fact: My maternal side of my family has numerous generations of educators. |
